In accordance with the SOLAS Convention and manufacturer guidelines, we conduct annual inspections of lifeboats and launching appliances.

Regulatory Updates
(Effective January 2020)

Key revisions to regulations and inspection guidelines are outlined below.
At MSC 96, amendments were adopted to SOLAS Chapter III, including Regulations 3 and 20, making maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, overhaul, and repair of lifeboats, rescue boats, launching appliances, and release gear mandatory.
These changes were formalized under IMO Resolutions MSC.402(96) and MSC.404(96).

Service providers must be approved by the Administration. Approval may also be accepted from other Administrations or recognized organizations.
Rescue boats have been added to the scope of application.

From January 1, 2020, for ships of 500 gross tonnage and above engaged in international voyages, servicing must be carried out by either the manufacturer’s certified personnel or an Administration-approved service provider.
Service providers are required to have certified personnel for each manufacturer, as well as for each model or type of equipment they service, in accordance with IMO Resolution MSC.402(96).
